Rotation Coordinator
Rotation Description
This rotation is designed for MD-PhD students with an appropriate scientific background who have an interest in medical oncology, and who seek more specialized exposure to and clinical training experience in cancer immunotherapy, with an emphasis on engagement in clinical trials and clinical trial development, at the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
The breadth and depth of exposure to clinical immunotherapy translational research at the are unsurpassed with active clinical programs in therapeutic cancer vaccines, immune checkpoint modulation, adoptive cellular therapies (both TCR transgenic and CAR-T therapy) and antibody-based immunotherapies. This three-month block rotation at the Center for Cancer Research (CCR) of the NCI allows the student to have patient oriented exposure to multiple clinical immunotherapeutic approaches and also to key opinion leaders in the field of clinical immunotherapy.
Rotation Objective
The primary objective of this rotation is to provide clinical research exposure and additional patient oriented experience for appropriately qualified students with immunotherapy clinical trials, with a focus on clinical trial design and conduct; treatment modalities; and management of toxicities, and opportunities to work directly with principal investigators in the CCR studying multiple experimental agents.
